Xu Heng, a 80s generation artist, whose art works shows the change of male identity in certain environment. The traditional concept of strong and un-destroyable has demolished. He dressed himself up as Barbie girl or glamour lady in front of the stage curtains, absolutely stunning yet confusing. Gorgeous yet mixed scenery provide us with a space that’s even closer to human—this space in some way eliminated the absoluteness of gender. Male and female are freely exchangeable in Xu Heng’s pictures. In his work ‘My 17 fronts and backs’, a male body extends and demolishes into a female image, which extends into a happy party. It is like a journey with exploring a piece of unknown land and marking them on the ma Unlike other artists, the gender change in Xu Heng’s work is obscure, showing the glamorous side of female. Through ‘legendary’ female image, it is no difficult to realize the possibility of exchange two genders. There is only the freedom of thinking the beauty of the subject itself—creating the vision experience by identity exchange and gender replacement.
