“Changing Sides” is the title of an exhibition by Wuppertal-based photographer Holger Mühlenbeck. His portraits focus on transsexual, homosexual, bisexual, and heterosexual people who have either undergone a complete or temporary sex-change, or else live with two sexes, but have yet to take the step of a sex-change operation. In his work, Mühlenbeck presents people who remain inconspicuous and unrecognized in daily life. However, their “transcendent” transformation allows them to rid themselves of their daily insecurities and replace them with confidence, openness, and a lust for life.
The exhibition is produced by HSL Fachlabor GmbH, Düsseldorf.
